Transformers Planet of Junk Clash Platinum Edition Set Review

We will take a look at the Transformers Planet of Junk Clash Platinum Edition collectors set.
As always the painting on the front is great looking. This set says it is commemorating the 30th anniversary of Transformers the Movie. It is supposed to represent the Planet of Junk scenes from the movie, but the scene depicted in the painting never occurred in the movie.

This Hot Rod is a redeco of Classics Deluxe Rodimus from 2006. This one is pretty much the same as the old one. The change is the yellow plastic is brighter, and the paint on the hood is now orange and has the autobot symbol is now on the hood here and the shins are now silver.
Feature wise, he still has his little flip out buzzsaw, and his giant blaster with a blue flame. This blaster blocks his elbow articulation.

Articulation wise it is pretty disappointing. His head goes around all the way around, the arms move around but is blocked by the kibble, goes out only a little bit, and bends 90 at the elbow. No bicep or wrist swivel.
Legs go forward, but not much backwards due to the kibble on the back, it goes outwards and bend at the knees at 90 and swivels at the knee. His feet can only pivot down.

Hot Rod in car mode, it looks pretty awesome. This mode is highly detailed and looks like a great representation of the G1 Hot Rod. The engine detail is great, and you can see the steering wheel and seats through the windshield. Silver pipes on the side and the gun is mounted to the back as his turbine engine with blue flames.

Wreck-Gar and Scrapheap are redecos of Reveal the Shield Wreck-Gar from 2010, and Scrapheap was a redeco of Wreck-Gar with a new head also in 2010. As you can see these 2 are now almost completely identical aside from the head mold. They are molded in the exact same colors, they just swapped some yellow and bronze paint on the forearms and the seat, some of the cowl and  the headlights. Whereas the original scrapheap was molded in completely different shades of color. This was just really lazy of Hasbro considering the price of this platinum set.
They both have the spinning axe weapon as the accessory.

The articulation is pretty good since he doesn't have a lot of blocking kibble. His head can turn a little bit, His shoulders are ball jointed and go all the way around, elbows bend greater than 90, and has a bicep and wrist swivel.
This one actually includes a waist swivel.
The hips are are double swivels instead of a ball joint and goes in any position you'd like, The knees are also double jointed which are pretty awesome and bend all the way back. And the ankles are on ball joints also, but is blocked a bit by the kibble.

Wreck-Gar and Scrap Heap turn into some pretty huge motorcycles because these are used by other junkions and not by humans. As you can tell, they are almost identical except for a couple of swapped colors.

They do have some nice motocycle details like shocks, disk brakes, little bit of engine detail, kickstand, the motocycle chain, The weapon is stored as part of the wheel and tailpipe which is pretty cool. You can see robot parts in this mode, but they aren't too bad. The head is visible underneath.

They actual figures are not bad by themselves, but as a set, this is not great. The price point for this set is way too high for 3 deluxe figures which are repaints of older releases and 2 of the figures are essentially the same.  I would actually not recommend this set as you can probably find the figures separately online for cheaper.
