Transformers Year of the Rooster Optimus Prime Platinum Edition Review

Here is the 2017 Year of the Rooster Optimus prime Review.
Lets check out how awesome this set really is.

Transformation Sequence

It is their Yearly chinese zodiac platinum release for 2017. This is a repackage of Takara Tomy THS-02 Hybrid Optimus Prime from 2006.
As with all Platinum Editions, these come with a Platinum pricing, at $160 Canadian Dollars or about $115 USD.

It comes with his trailer, blaster, energon axe, roller, fuel hose, Jetpack, figure stand and base and 6 additional hands and of course the instructions. No collector cards or coins with this set.

This optimus has TONS of details for it's small size. It is about 4inch tall. I don't know about you, but he looks a little blocky and a bit wide at the waist. The front part of his torso is diecast and his lower legs are diecast which give it a lot of weight down low to give it stability.

Articulation wise, his head is on a ball joint, can look straight up but not down, shoulders are on a hinge and ball joint which gives it extra maneuverability, elbows at 90 with elbow swivel, and ball jointed wrists

It does have a ball jointed waist, which is something that you dont see everyday.
Balljointed hip skirt which allows his legs to go 90 degrees forward and 90 degrees back and about 60 degreees sideways. Has a thigh swivel, double jointed knees, ankles that go forward and back and side to side. With so many joints you can make some magnificant poses.

You can turn his smoke stacks and fuel tanks forward for gun mode which is ridiculous looking.
Of course he has his regular blaster which he holds nicely.
This is the best part, you can open his chest up to reveal the matrix of leadership. This is actually removal. It is also diecast metal.

He also has his jetpack that he used in one episode to fly, which is very detailed and he wears it like a backpack.

Roller looks great and has geared front and rear wheels so it turns at the same time.
You can flip down the transparent light and it becomes another 3mm port. You can stick the blaster or the fuel pump and hose in here.

The Trailer is awesome. It does everything you ever wanted in a optimus prime trailer.
It has spring loaded ramp and auto deploying stabilizers when you open the trailer up.
It has space to store all the accessories including the hands and the backpack and roller all the same time.
The robot is is on a fully articulated boom, and has a deployable satellite dish and a articulated claw arm that opens and closes. The cockpit also opens up so you can see all the cool details inside.

The detail are masterpiece level in a legends size trailer. You can deploy the handles so optimus can use it like a cannon.

Putting it upright turns it into a repair bay. Optimus clips firmly in place so it doesn't fall over or fall off your shelf.

This is a pretty good set. it comes with a boatload of features and accessories you don't get with any other optimus figures in a really small size. The bot mode is a bit out of proportion and the transformation is finicky.

It is best to think of this as a non transforming action figure, like the revoltech optimus prime as the truck mode is the worst truck mode I have seen optimus in.

The intricate details they put into to the molding is fantastic, especially with the trailer and roller.

If this set was half the price, it would be a must buy for fans, but at the current retail price it is hard to recommend.

Here are the rest of the pictures.
