Review: Transformers G2 Superion Combiner Wars Special Edition Box Set

This is the Combiner Wars Generation 2 Superion Box set. It comes complete with 6 Aerialbots figures in G2 colors and combine into the mighty G2 Superion.

Lets take a look at the combined Superion figure. You can see my other videos blog for the individual bot reviews.

Lets look at this box, it is big, bold and beautiful as it shows a wonderful painting of Superion in the G2 colors. It says 6 figures included and a poster and collectors card is also included. On the back of the box it shows superion in toy form and short description.

Inside you get the 6 Aerialbots, some weapons and some fists/foot pieces, one sheet of instructions, a collectors card and this small poster printed on cardstock. The poster is only 11x14 inches big, but it was nice that all the paperwork came in a large envelope so it doesn't have any creases on it.

Other than the different colored plastic, they sport some highly detailed printed graphics on the wings with the G2 symbol and their Aerialbot number. Number 1 is Skydive, number 2 is AirRaid, number 3 is FireFly, number 4 is QuickSlinger and number 5 is Silverbolt. Of course Powerglide doesn't have a number since he wasn't part of the original Aerial bots, but he does have the G2 symbol on him.

You can transform these parts in different configurations, but I will put them the official combined mode. If you want to see more details of the individual fig
ures, check out my blog and other videos of the individual figures.

As you can tell, this is a direct repaint of the original combiner wars Superion except it is packaged together in a box set. So everything that you read about for the original Combiner Wars Superion still applies to this version.

Size Comparison.
Superion stands 29cm high. Here he is next to Combiner wars megatron, MP01 and deluxe bumblebee.

Articulation
For the size of this figure the articulation it still quite good. It has some heavy clicky joints so it will keep some of his poses.

His head rotates left and right, the kibble on the back stops it from going all the way around. It cannot look up or down
His arms can go all the way around and outwards 60degrees. It has a double jointed elbows but still only goes 90degrees. It has a bicep swivel and has rotating fists, movable thumb and fingers.
It has no waist joint on this figure
His legs can go forward and back very high at about 135 degrees and outwards at 90 degrees. It has a thigh swivel, Knees bend 90 and you can bend the thigh a bit if you need the little extra posability. It can also rotate at the knees and his foot can rotate but does not have ankle hinges,

One of the issues are the elbows are made from the hips and knees of the robot are smooth joints so they tend to loosen over time or are already loose and cannot hold up the gun especially if Powerglide is on it. And because he is top heavy, you will probably not be posing with his legs much if you want stability since his ankles do not rock, his feet will always be on the edges in any other pose. His feet also look a bit small.

This figure is great. If you already have a superion, you probably don't need a second one, but if you don't have it, and you like the G2 color scheme then this is a great set.
